Hello
We noticed that our CloudExtend Excel integration with Salesforce stopped syncing updates for several users. No errors appeared in Excel but nothing was saving back to Salesforce.
Initially; we thought it was a client issue or a problem with token expiration but re-authentication did not fix it.
Eventually; we tracked it down to a recent update in Salesforce profile permissions—certain fields became read-only for the affected users. Since CloudExtend Excel relies on API permissions tied to user profiles, even small changes in Salesforce field-level access can silently break the sync process.
This CloudExtend Excel for Salesforce Troubleshooting Guide helped us confirm the root cause and restore proper access.
While discussing the issue internally, a colleague asked me what is cloud architect, and we ended up talking about how roles like that are crucial in anticipating & managing changes across integrated cloud systems like Salesforce, Excel, and CloudExtend.
It’s a reminder that small permission changes can have big downstream effects if not architected carefully.
Thank you !!
