What to do before starting a B2B Manager integration

The B2B Manager toolset in integrator.io allows you to quickly automate and standardize your B2B processes using EDI format documents while using the powerful flow building and error management tools in the Integrator.io platform. While you may have read our previous guidance on starting new integration projects, EDI integrations benefit from a few additional best practices to ensure a smooth implementation. Chief among these is understanding the relative roles of each organization involved in the integration project.

Within an EDI project, there are typically three entities involved in the process; the Implementation Partner, the Customer, and the Trading Partner. Each role is responsible for different tasks during the implementation. While there can be overlap between some roles, it’s easiest to consider them separately:

  1. Implementation Partner: This could be the Celigo Professional Services Team, one of our Integration Partners, members of your own team, or a combination of the three. This group is responsible for designing and building the integration, providing support during the UAT and Go-live process, and troubleshooting defects within the scope of the project.

  2. Customer (You): You know your processes best, and typically hold a relationship with the Trading Partner. Your role is to provide the specs from the Trading Partner to your Implementation Partner (and/or the Celigo Connections Team for development), provide the necessary field mappings, coordinate discussions with the Trading Partner, and execute the UAT plan with support from your Implementation Partner.

  3. Trading Partner: Each Trading Partner being integrated will be responsible for providing the technical specifications for their EDI documents, and should be available to provide technical and testing support as needed.

Additionally, it’s important to get enabled on the integrator.io platform, both at a basic functional level, as well as with the B2B Manager tools specifically. There are multiple resources that can provide you with the necessary knowledge:

  1. Celigo University: Within CeligoU, there are free, self-paced courses available for all users in the integrator.io platform. This includes the Admin Fundamentals Learning Path, as well as the B2B Manager specific courses.

  2. Celigo Lift-Off: For users looking for a quicker enablement cycle or who would prefer an instructor-led, more hands-on approach, Celigo Lift-Off is available for learning foundational integrator.io concepts. This should still be supplemented with the self-paced B2B Manager course. Ask your account team how to register!

  3. B2B Manager Templates: Within the integrator.io marketplace, we have B2B Manager specific templates that can be used to kickstart development for a variety of EDI documents.

As with any integration project, don’t forget that you’re not alone - if you have any concerns or questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to your account team.
