Does anyone know if it's possible to sync cart-level discounts in Shopify to a line-level discount in NetSuite?
The issue we're encountering is that when there is a cart-level discount, and the shipping charge is not taxed, the invoice in NetSuite ends up being off by a small amount such $0.10. This is due to how NetSuite spreads the header level discount to the line items.
I've tested by removing the header level discount and adding a line level discount - then NetSuite calculates the tax correctly and it matches the Sales Order tax amount.
The Shopify IA relies on the structure of the JSON and it best practice to point Cart Discounts to header discounts and Product Level Discounts to item discounts.
If the discount is applied at the cart level, the IA will use the cart-level discount setting. If you want the discount to be applied at the line-item level, it must also be configured as an item-level discount in Shopify.
I have also seen scripts or platform flows to correct discount variances, by moving those to different accounts.
We for the most part just stick to line item level discounts because of some of these issues. Likst James said, we have some scripts/services that run and take care any small differences in tax amounts.
