Changing the number of records

I want to make sure my understanding is correct. Ignoring the One to Many mode, what I've been told is that the number of records cannot be changed after the Source component is done with the records.

I know that in the Source's pre save page hook, one can replace the "data" array entirely based on one's needs. But after this: can't be done, correct?

Mostly, yes. If you have a branch, then the source page gets split into smaller pages if you have records from one page going down different branches. There is no way to combine pages back, though, unless it’s aggregating to a file provider step (FTP, S3, etc.).
