Amazon IA used for Japanese market

Hey all,

Are there examples of Amazon IA being used for the Japanse market?

And specifically: due to the low value of the JPY, no decimals are used. This means that tax is not always exactly 10,00%.

Hi,

Could you please confirm whether you are currently using the Amazon–NetSuite Integration App for the Japan marketplace, or if you are still inquiring about which Amazon Integration App should be used for Japan?

If you are currently using the Amazon–NetSuite Integration App, we have tax management in the Amazon - NetSuite Integration Integration App, which is designed to give you flexibility between trusting Amazon's tax calculations or letting NetSuite take the lead.
The integration typically offers three primary methods for handling sales tax during the order sync process:

1. Overwrite Taxes with Amazon Tax Amounts

This is the most common choice for sellers who want their NetSuite records to exactly match the financial data provided by Amazon.

  • How it works: The integration app takes the exact tax amount sent by Amazon and "forces" it into NetSuite.

  • NetSuite Setup: You typically assign a Default Tax Code to the order, and the app then overwrites the tax total.

  • The "Variance" Field: If NetSuite's native engine calculates a different amount than Amazon, the difference is stored in a custom field called ETAIL TAX TOTAL VARIANCE. This allows you to report on discrepancies without blocking the order flow.

2. NetSuite Calculates Taxes (Native Engine )

Use this option if you prefer NetSuite (or an integration like Avalara/TaxJar connected to NetSuite) to be the "source of truth" for tax compliance.

  • How it works: The app sends the order details to NetSuite, and NetSuite’s native tax engine or SuiteTax calculates the tax based on the shipping address and item tax schedules.

  • Risk: This can lead to small penny-rounding differences between what the customer paid on Amazon and what is recorded in NetSuite.

3. Add Total Tax as a Single Line I tem

Instead of mapping taxes to the native "Tax" field in NetSuite, some users prefer to bring tax in as a separate line item.

  • How it works: The app calculates the total tax from the Amazon order and adds it as a non-inventory item line on the NetSuite Sales Order.

  • Benefit: This avoids complex NetSuite tax logic entirely but can make native tax reporting in NetSuite more difficult.
